Stanley Kubrick
So, in case you didn't know, Stanley Kubrick is easily in the top five film makers ever. So many classics, with only one "just okay" movie.
"Barry Lyndon," "The Shining," "Lolita," "2001: A Space Odyssey,", and the two absolutely genius films "Clockwork Orange" and "Dr. Strangelove or: How I learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb."
So, what's your favorite?
EDIT: Glad to see you guys got a new room open for this kind of stuff. Expect me to be posting here a lot >:3

You know I'm just going to turn the "Anything Else" forum into an Art and Media place....I'll get right on that.
Anyway, it saddens me to say that I've only seen one Kubrick film....but it was A Clockwork Orange, and it was UTTERLY AMAZING.
I'm siiiingin' in the rain...just siiiiingin' in the rain....what a glooooorious feeling....>:3

That's to be expected. Not only did it give us one of the most iconic and parodied villains of all time, HAL 9000 (Seen the episode of Futurama where the ship gets a new autopilot [voiced by Sigourney Weaver]? Yeah, parodies HAL, as does the scene removing her core and the lip-reading scene). Kubrick has a knack for making the villains just awesome, yet evil. Heeeeere's JOHNNY! 2001: Space Odyssey has, arguably, the greatest and most influential special effects in any movie. And this movie came 20 years before CGI.
Not to mention the soundtrack is epic as well.

Re: Stanley Kubrick
Any idea how exactly he did the special effects? i've seen bits and peices of the movie and it totally baffles me how he pull some of those things off.

They still had computers for editing and blue screens and all. Photo cuts, machine work, backdrops, props, and other conventional uses used for the time.
Still, they kick the ass out most movie special effects today.
